Bootcamp

Sooooo, we made a list of requirements for the bootcamp weekend, and we got to check them all off. Alright! We did good right? Well, yes and no. Thursday Chai and I decided to do some time trials. All were one minute exercises. I've done a bit of research into lifting weights and exercising a few times, but nothing too serious. Just enough to try and find some stuff to do when I'm not able to get into the gym. Most of it's the usual stuff, squats, push-ups, sit-ups/crunches, stuff like that. Well recently I've been reading a lot on MMA(Mixed Martial Arts) forums and the like and seeing what some of those guys do. One of the big things that seems to pop up a lot in routines, is burpees. Wow, with a silly name like that who would have thought they'd kick your ass harder than Chuck Norris's beard! Insane. But an awesome workout!

Burpees can be brutal when you're out of shape!
Basically, for those of you who don't know, a burpee is a whole body exercise. You start in a squat position with you hands on the ground by your feet. You then kick your legs out behind you into basically a push-up position. Immediately after you hop them back to your starting position, and jump as high as you can straight up in the air. Sounds easy, looks easier when you see someone do it. Wikipedia has a slightly different(and sounds harder) version of the burpee, which can be found here.

Friday half day at work WOOT WOOT!! Chai and I took off from work and went to play lazymans tennis for a few hours. haha We suck at tennis. It was fun though, got a little bit of running in chasing after badly hit tennis balls. All in all, probably more fun than a function able workout.

Saturday, I went over to Chai's house and played(worked out) with Wii Fit for about an hour and a quarter, while waiting for her to get home. Pretty good workout there. We went for a walk later with the pups, and ate giant lobsters. Kinda lost the work-out momentum later in the day, and we watched the EliteXC fights, and then a movie, before bed time.

Sunday, was a mish-mash of a few things on the list, and a little bit of Wii, then I went home.

Better than normal for working out, but not as much as I was expecting to, or should have done. I guess it was more of a sneakercamp weekend, and not bootcamp. Pretty good as far as the eating low-carb goes though. :) and it's only going to get better!
