convenience

Things that would make this easier(in the numbered format you all love).

1.) Cheap gym close to home.
2.) Having a mini-fridge filled with water in my cubicle at work.
3.) If Pizza didn't have carbs.
4.) If everything wasn't breaded. ie. buffalo tenders, chicken nuggets...
5.) If cravings didn't exist.
6.) Being the only one at home that is low-carbing it
7.) I like beer, beer is not low-carb.
8.) There's no carbs in numbered lists right?
9.) I wasn't so lazy
10.) If there were more easy, quick meals. Like microwavable stuff.
11.) More LC friendly snack foods. I love pork rinds, but sometimes I want variety.

What are some things that would make low-carbing easier for you?

the breaded thing, definitely. EVERYTHING is breaded, or has sugar. its crazy.

i can't do low carb. i just can't. but i CAN handle south beach, when i want to stick to it. because you don't count carbs as much as which grains you put in your body...

i gotta remember to try those pork rinds...

I have a fairly lax approach to low carb. I don't tell myself I can't have anything. I tell myself I shouldn't. The minute I say I can't have pizza, I crave it like you wouldn't believe. So I do eat some higher carb foods every once in a while, but I make sure I don't beat myself up over it.

There are quite a few good pizza recipe's out there...using cheese or meat as the crust.
Have you tried them?

I haven't has a real piece of pizza in over 5 years, but I LOVE Meatza! And the cheese crust pizza that is being sold in stores here in the midwest is awesome!
Here's an article about it...

Yeah, Chai found a good one that's just eggs and cheese for the crust that's good. I'm lazy though, I love convenience foods. If there was a restaurant that delivered low-carb pizza, or didn't give you funny looks when you order a steak and cheese without the bun, I'd order it up almost every day. :) Anybody wanna pitch in money for me to open a low-carb restaurant? Of course, I'd have to pay someone else to do the cooking.. haha But I can do the managing and some deliveries. I'm just not that good of a cook.

Ah, but the pizza linked above is sold in grocery stores...are you opposed to sticking a frozen pizza in the oven?
No "cooking" needed...just some "waiting".
Which OF COURSE can be the hardest part sometimes!!
*wink*

haha naw, no aversion to heating stuff up. But I've never seen them out at stores here on the east coast. I'd definitely give it a try. :) Before low carb, I basically lived off of frozen meals. Usually microwavable though.

Yes, I OFTEN thank the person who invented the Microwave!!

Shoot, I found the ACTUAL website and it looks like they only ship to the midwest. Hope he expands his shipping soon!

dang. If it ever makes it out this way, I'll give it a try. Till then I'll have to settle for the occasional "cheating" of the real stuff, and the recipe that Chai found. It's surprisingly good and simple 3 cups of shredded cheese, and 3 eggs, mix it together and bake. I can get the real recipe from her if you'd like to try it. :)

Sure, that would be great!
Thanks!

Hey Ammy, here's Chai's post about the pizza.

http://relativelylowcarb.blogspot.com/2008/09/low-carb-pizza-at-laaaast.html

The recipe is the first image, 3 eggs, 3 cups of shredded mozarella, mix together with some spices(garlic, oregano, whatever you like), spread it out on the pan, bake for 10-15 mins at 450°. Then you have pizza crust. :) Make sure you spray the heck out of the pan though, so it doesn't stick.

I love seeing all these creative and yummy-sounding recipes online, from Cleochatra and Vikki and Big Daddy D and on and on...but I'm lazy like you.

It'd be *much* easier to have a personal low-carb chef on-call whenever we get a hankering for something that takes more than two ingredients and more than five minutes. :)

haha seriously, I'd eat all sorts of these tasty recipes if I didn't have to make them. I'm very much a throw a hunk of beef in a pan, cook till it's done, and eat kinda guy. Anything that has more than two or three steps, I pretty much pass on. A personal chef would be excellent.

wow that looks YUMMY!!! I'm going to give it a try this weekend! WOOHOO..
Pizza during the Viking/Packer game on Sunday!! PERFECT!

Thanks!

The pizza was SO YUMMY!! Thank you for the recipe!! I topped it with olives, mushrooms, and turkey pepperoni. Delicious!!

Fatty McFat-Fat said...

Yay! I'm glad you liked it. It's simple, and actually has an almost real dough crust consistency after being cooked. Anything I can put pepperoni on, can't be all bad either. :)

No kidding!
I didn't get the middle of the crust cooked very well because the outsides were burning too badly, so next time I'm making "individual" pizzas. I divided my pizza into three servings, so next time I'll make individual crusts so the insides will cook better.
1c cheese, 1egg per crust

AND so I don't have to worry about what a "serving" is...
*blush*

YUMMYYYYY

I think Chai just did that, with the individual pizzas. I haven't tried it yet. Man I love pizza though. :)
