Party party!

A friend of mine had a birthday party this past Friday night. Always a good time and I get to meet up with some friends I haven't seen in a while. The downside, it was a potluck type affair, mac and cheese, cake, crackers, potato salad, very little cheese/meat/veggies. I was a good boy had a few bites of pepperoni, and some water. That was it. It's tough when everyone is telling you there's cake!!!! And you get the funny looks and comments when you turn it down. Luckily a good chunk of the people there know I've been on a diet lately(hard to believe it's been this long already), so I only had to tell a few people I was all set. It's amazing how offended some people get when you tell someone you're not hungry. Even if they aren't the ones who even MADE the food, they're just eating it.

Good for you...and if they choose to be offended, then it's THEIR problem...

Stay Strong Fatty!!!!
Or should I say "not so Fatty"!!!
*wink*

haha Thanks. I'm starting to think some people get offended because it makes them feel "fatter" themselves. I don't know. All I do know, is I'm getting pretty good at saying no to people about food. Unless it's bacon... lol

NEVER REFUSE BACON.

If you ever turned down bacon, I would slap yo face, call our Momma, and take you to a shrink!

or, I'd call someone on the plastic blue phone to arrange an alien autopsy on you.

WHY is dieting--or eating a different way--so taboo??

Every day in my office, people bring in candy or other sweets, and try to convince me to eat it. Like they don't think it's hard enough to ignore the presence of chocolate, and now they want to make it even more tempting? Would you say to an alcoholic "You sure you won't have some wine? It is soooooo good...."?

(And then why is it also taboo to order dessert at a restaurant when no one else at the table does?)

I think sometimes people genuinely don't understand it. If you've never been fat, I'm sure it doesn't make sense as to why you can't just have a candy bar.

I have a neighbor/friend who is a therapist...she said she is working with some people with eating issues and she said she will know they are better when they can just eat ONE serving of ANYTHING they want...

She JUST does NOT get it...I'm working on her.

But I think this thought pattern is prevelant in health professionals. Scary, isn't it...especially for us bingers!

I'm sure it's hard to treat something you don't understand. Like it was mentioned earlier, would your therapist friend say an alcoholic is better when they can have one beer, etc.? :/

That's where we keep sending her...
and of COURSE she says NO, but she sees food as completely different.

Hopefully we put a spark in her and now she will do some thinking/reading on the subject that she truly does NOT understand...

Hopefully...

Food is just a legal drug. One that's readily available and easy to abuse. :/

"Just one cheat won't hurt!"

Yeeahh! Right! (Watched Waynes World recently. You will all suffer my wrath!)

You did good. It's hard and it sucks but you rock!

Honestly, when I go to another pot luck I'll be taking all kinds of LC goodies.

And luckily my MIL knows I'm doing LC so she's okay with me bringing a veggie tray (if she didn't get one herself) so I can have some munchies with everyone.
