Hyper & Chill

I've really been hoping to find a good diet that would allow me to lose weight, but also be sustainable for life. I don't want to follow a specific/fad/extreme diet in order to lose weight, but then have to switch to a different way of eating when I am at goal, only to gain it all back. But it seems this isn't attainable.

So far, in my trials, the only thing that achieves weight loss for me, is CHANGE.
When I change my diet in a drastic way (either for the better, or worse!) my body drops a couple pounds. So it seems safe to say that my only hope of actually losing this weight is to do just that.

Therefore, mama's got a brand new plan!
This comes from what I've done for the past 3 weeks. And it has inadvertently allowed me to lose 6lbs!

TRIAL # 852290549817
Experiment Name :
Alternating Weeks

Description :

WEEK ONE -
"Hyper Week"
Meals will consist of 2 smoothies as meal replacements, plus one proper-portioned, well rounded meal. Up to 2 SMALL snacks allowed throughout the day. TWO workouts per day, one morning, one evening. Minimum of one hour thirty minutes combined. No rest day.

WEEK TWO -
"Chill Week"
Three round meals a day, of proper portions. Rare "small treats" are allowed (ie : 1/2 a cookie, small latté, etc) Will not exceed 1,600 calories per day. So, for this week I will eat "normally". One hour evening workout daily, with one rest day.

RINSE, AND REPEAT.

This is what I will try. If it does not confuse my body enough, I will switch to doing 2 weeks "Hyper", 1 week "Chill", etc.

If this works, I think it also lends itself very easily into being a sustainable lifestyle. I can meld the two together into a comfortable routine for maintenance.

So, wish me luck. I hate all this experimenting, but at the same time.. every time i change my routine, I feel a glimmer of hope. Whatever keeps me going, I say!

a whole week of two-a-days?! i would diiiie. remember that your muscle tissue grows when at res..! don't wear yourself out my dear :) i like the idea of shakes replacing meals.. i do that too! so convenient and filling~but i would probably do that on the week where i was working out less. on the week with two-a-days i would prob want to eat more real food. just my $0.02~you can totally disregard this :P xoxo

Honestly, I don't think this is a good idea at all. The diet for the hyper week isn't something that is sustainable and you won't be getting the proper fuel necessary to do those one hour and a half workouts. When you put your body into an extreme deficit and overwork it, your body will stop responding. Weight loss is all about producing a deficit; you can do that while eating a balanced diet like a normal person. If you have plataued and you believe you should be losing weight, I suggest taking a couple weeks off to reset your metabolism.

Thanks guys!

Tony, my smoothies are...well... abundant! :-) They have as many calories, and protein as a "meal"
so I am most certainly getting enough calories for the day.

I won't give you my whole diet history... but trust me.. it doesn't work any other way.
Weight loss SHOULD be all about creating a deficit, but I've been working off a 1,500 - 2,000 calorie a DAY deficit for more than a year and I haven't lost. So, there is something else at work here!

And it may not work this way... but I have to try!

What do you put in your smoothies? Is it just a bunch of fruit, and yogurt?

My smoothies are - boatload of fresh fruit, greek yogurt, protein powder, spinach, agave syrup (if needed extra sweetness)
