The Winds of Change

It's amazing how fast things can change. Last week was an awesome week. I had some fabulous and hard work outs, perfect food, I felt great! I saw 212lbs on the scale on Saturday. SO GOOD.
Today, it's barely Wednesday, and I've already missed two work outs this week.

Not being able to work out makes me feel so disappointed, which makes me frustrated, which makes me want to 'give up' which makes me want to eat whatever-the-heck-I-want.
And, although I am NOT actually eating whatever-the-heck-I-want, I believe in Immaculate Consumption. (yes, I did just coin that awesome term)
I swear I can gain weight by just WANTING to eat junk. lol It's disgusting.

Of course, what I want to do is work out for 4 hours tonight and make up for lost time. But I can't even do that (nor would I, I'm not crazy, yo).  There is definitely something wrong with my knee. I mean, there is always something wrong with my knees, but... something different. It's a very different pain, and it occurs in specific movements. As far as I know, I didn't injure it, as there was no moment that I felt the pain start suddenly.  But they hurt badly on Saturday morning, and then I had a rough-on-the-knees workout on that day.  By Sunday it was really painful, but I did just a 2 mile walk. Monday night, as I said... I tried to work out but only made it worse.  And yesterday, all I did was ice it, compress it, and whine about it ;-) Today, it seems I'll be doing the same!

My point here... is that I can see how it takes just a minuscule set back to negate all the good. If it were only a year ago, and I had a day or two like this... it would be enough to throw me so far off 'the wagon'. And believe me, I can do a LOT of damage in a short time when that happens.

I won't let that happen right now.  But I need to figure out a way to get rid of my frustration before it builds into a what-the-heck-i-don't-care-anymore feeling.

I did cancel training last night. And I know it was the right decision. I have a feeling I shouldn't be going tomorrow, either. But I am gonna go anyway. Even if I get a half-ass, upper-body only workout in, it'll be enough for me, mentally, to feel like I'm not out of the game.

Please forgive my complaining :-) I'll be back, shortly!

Ugh, that just sucks. I do hope your knee feels better. I know you've seen your doctor about it before, but since you think the pain feels different, maybe you should get it looked at? It couldn't hurt to go get it checked out. Just a thought, you don't have to take my advice! :)

And you've got loads of willpower, I know you can counteract any loss in workout with eating right, and like you said, even if you can get an upper body workout in, that's great. Its OK to rest your body once in awhile. As long as you keep your eating in check, rest is good for you. You can't just go and go and go and not stop all the time.

You're doing great. I'm SO proud of you!
