To like or not to like

I do enjoy the low-carb lifestyle for the most part. It's pretty convenient, unless you're really in the mood for sweets. My favorite foods are meats, and cheeses, I'm more than happy to just drop a chunk of hamburg in a pan with some seasonings, coat it with shredded cheese and dump in a bowl. I love easy foods, and a lot of LC foods are easy like that. Of course I miss my pizza, pizza rolls, chicken nuggets, stuff like that. What I don't miss, is eating those things and being hungry 30 minutes later.

What is a pain, like Chai mentioned, is the perception and reaction of others. Even waitresses... "No fries or rice thanks, just a salad with the steak." Waitress: "Are you sure? it comes with two sides?".... I can read silly woman, just bring me my foliage and beef. :/ Or when dining out with friends, or going over their house for something and they pressure to eat chips, cookies, etc. I'm okay with saying no, but it sucks when I have to explain(again!) why I don't eat that stuff.

I like my beer too, so that makes my carb count go up a bit on weekends, and mixed drinks just cost too much money. That's the basic gist of it. I enjoy how easy it is to stay on target, and how easy it is to get back on the wagon, if I decide I really want some pizza, or whatever.

Like I told Chai, the stigma is dropping thanks to these AWESOME studies (I only know of one so far) that are proving on a mass scale that Low Carb is actually healthy.

As for other people? I've learned when going to social things to take a veggie tray or something so I can munch and share with others.

No comments on the beer. The Michelob Ultra Light is supposed to be lowest in carbs. If you really need a mixed drink, there are mixes out there that are low carb. I have a mojito mix and a bottle of rum in my cabinet waiting for when I need a good drink. And it better be awesome!

If you switch to spirits they are lower carb. This seems to be a pretty good list, but more importantly for you, it covers alcohol. :D

As for what other people think of LC? Meh, let them think what they want.

Like I pointed out to Chai, if you have said person list a "healthy" diet you'll hear exactly what's on the top rung of the Atkins Ladder.

Whole Wheat Bread.
Whole Fruit.
Whole Vegetables.
Meats.
Nuts and cheese.

Basically, no processed foods.

THAT is a LC diet. The 20g or less is a 2 week phase. The rest of it is much more liberal. Especially for boys with their Super Metabolisms. :D

Off to study! :D Hope you enjoyed your morning lecture/pep talk!

Yeah, studies are great, when they prove your point. The problem is getting people to read them. Not to mention for every study that shows your point of view, there's three more put out that talk trash about it. I'm really not out to push my views on anyone, I do this diet because I like it, and it works for me. I do feel healthier, and that's good enough for me. :) As for the spirits, I was including those under the mixed drinks label. One of my favorites is Jack Daniels and Diet Coke. Zero carbs, but costs twice what a beer does. That's my problem, I'm poor. lol

I love processed foods!
Not a big fan of the maltitol that goes in some of them *fart*

But, I'm cool with chemicals and stuff. :-)

But when someone questions my diet, I keep it simple. I don't waste time convincing them that I am right, and lecture them on why low-carb is good for you. I simple say - It works for me, and I am happy with it. That seems to be enough info for anyone to understand!

Short and sweet, just like your corgi. :) Unless she's grumping.
