Ok, but . . . why?

I don't think I will ever know the reasons WHY I am overweight in the first place.
I feel like most people, during their life or their weight loss journey come to understand what went wrong in the first place. What in their life had triggered the excessive overeating to start with. A traumatic childhood? A need for control? depression?

For me, I recognize a few things. I do believe that it's partly genetic. I have my mother's body, and the same compulsion toward food. I also have anxiety issues.
I can't figure out if I developed anxiety issues over being overweight, or if they are their own problem entirely.

I don't know.

I know that it won't be as easy to fix as just losing the weight, though.

It's hard to work on the "root" of the problem, if I can't seem to dig deep enough to unearth it. I think maybe, sometimes, you do just have to start at the leaves and work your way down. Maybe simply figuring out how to lose the weight will help me realize how I gained it in the first place.

I bet it was having to grow up with me... Well and mom is a good cook, and owned a bakery, and when you were really little, you swallowed a fat magnet... ;)

I don't think the why is important, or a necessary component to losing weight. And I also think people can get so mired in trying to "find out why" that they waste (or WAIST) time.

I say that past is done...don't forget it, but don't dwell on it either.

You have a new way of eating, and of living - now you just have to DO it...which you are, on a daily basis! So keep on keepin on!!!

(but seriously? Your Mother owned a bakery - yeah, that couldn't have helped!!!!)
