Commit me

I am sitting here, feeling all revved up and gung-ho, but with nowhere to go.
I have but 4 weeks left in my personal 12 week challenge, and with virtually nothing to show for it. I want to re-commit myself, I want to push it into overdrive, but.. where do I go from here? I already eat nearly perfectly, I work out as much as my body allows. I drink my water (reluctantly). I feel like, I want to give it more gas and MAKE it give me progress.

But I'm already giving it all I got. I can always do MORE cardio, and I will try that, but there is a point when it is too much. I can't lower my calories, or carbs or what not. I'm at the minimum for how much I exercise. I keep it balanced and healthy.

I've got my doctor's appt in mid-November. And perhaps there are answers and hope for me there. But I don't think so.
It is SO embarrassing to be an obese girl and to go to anyone and say "I try and I try, but I just can't lose weight"
It feels like a stereotype. Like I am complaining about being fat and not doing anything about it. And I don't like feeling like people view me that way.
But I am going to do it. I am going to write down exactly what I do, how I eat, etc. And hand it to the doctor. Somebody, somewhere has GOT to be able to tell me what is wrong. Even if it is just a slap in the face and being told that I just need to WORK HARDER. I'll take it. I just want answers. I know that losing weight is hard for everyone. But it should NOT be THIS hard.

In the meantime... I'll just keep plugging. I am going to up my cardio a little more. Keep a tighter reign on my food, and that's that.

I can't wait to hear a Fatty weight update!

You're down 11 pounds. That's not "nothing to show for it." Maybe it's not as much as you want, but that isn't nothing. That's currently more than a pound a week. ;) You're doing great!

I'm not though :-/ the week one numbers were wrong. I'm down 3lbs total. Which I agree, is still SOMETHING. But, not much when compared to 8 weeks worth of time!

OMG. This post totally reminds me of what I was going through. Earlier this year, I hired a nutritionist and got my metabolism tested along with my hormones. Nutritionist told me to drink more water and take vitamind D but that my diet was perfect. I found out that my metabolism was totally messed up though. So, I have to work twice as hard as other people to lose the same amount. For me, the trick was knowing my fat burning zone and hanging out in it for 45-60 mins several times a week. Think lower intensity for longer duration. I know it sounds counterproductive but it totally works. I promise. I also do intervals between 125 and 166 heart rate giving me an average heart rate in my fat burning zone at 140. Get a heart rate monitor....total life saver. Hope this helps. Best of luck to you. :)

I definitely would be curious about what some lab tests would day. It is frustrating to be going by the book and have little to no results.

I would not up the cardio at all. You may actually need to back off the intensity just a bit. Shake it up.

Hey Chai. You might remember me from a long time ago, when I briefly had a blog called "Do Better". Anyways, I am one of your silent followers, keeping you in my RSS reader and following your journey and stuggles -- and very much paralleling my own journey and struggles. I know you don't low carb anymore, though it looks like Fatty is heading back that direction. Low carb is the only thing that ever really worked for me, but I often found it hard to stick to for the long haul -- getting frequently derailed by carbs is just too easy.

Well, I finally found something that I can really, really live with and that is really, really working for me. Just throwing you my two cents here. But I've gone PRIMAL now, and I freakin' love it! I am thinner and in far better shape than I have been in a long, looooong time. My skinny jeans are falling off. I seriously may be asking for a new wardrobe for Christmas at this rate. And the thing is, it's been pretty easy. And when I derail for a meal or a day, it doesn't effect me like it used to. Eating is actually very similar to low carb, except I get more fruit (which I love!) and have overall really moved away from anything processed at all. Plus the high fat keeps me really really satisfied.

If you've never been, check out this website --> http://www.marksdailyapple.com/ It'll give you all the basics you need to know. Take a look and give it a consideration. It's working for me anyways.

Good luck! I read you at work so I can hardly never comment, but know that I really enjoy your blog and really relate to all you are going through. Keep on keepin' on girl. Even if the weight isn't coming off for you yet, you are still living in a pretty healthy body and lifestyle! And health is what's most important after all.
