More on sugar resistance

I've been reading quite a bit about Fructose Intolerance (Malabsorption).  Based on the symptoms, it's a reasonable consideration for me.  It affects the gut - bloating, gas, diarrhea. Which I do have an issue with after eating something sugary or more than a small amount of fruit. I have been lactose intolerant for a few years now as well, and I guess they tend to come together. It also shares a lot of symptoms with pre-diabetes,  one being - weight gain and the inability to lose weight. 
I'm not about to blame my weight loss woes on this quite yet, but it is certainly a symptom that I've been dealing with.  And could possibly explain how I could be eating just 1,000 calories per day and actually gaining weight, since I do eat a fair amount of fruit and other foods on the no-no list.

I ate a very low-carb diet for a span of almost 2 years awhile ago and it did not magically melt the weight off, but I honestly can't recall if I had relief from any of the other symptoms. I've just never tracked it properly.

So, here's the tough part...


Avoid foods that contain:
  • Fructose
  • High-fructose corn syrup
  • Table sugar (sucrose)
  • Powdered sugar
  • Fruit and fruit juices
  • Honey
  • Regular sodas
  • Flavored water
  • Sorbitol
  • Sports drinks
  • Sweetened milk or sweetened milk beverages
I eat a lot of fruit, and when I do sweetness, I do raw honey, agave, or splenda.  All of which would now be off-limits.   Also most breads, doughs, and pasta would be off-limits.  This will be interesting!

I started doing no sugar added and it's like night and day! Best move I've made in a long time.

I have just stopped having bread as well. I don't eat a lot of sugar or fructose as it's not my food of choice, but BREAD is. So I'm trying life without it.
So far, it's been a huge relief??
I have discovered that I made carefree and odd choices when I included bread into the equation. Without it, my head is clearer and I am making conscious food choices. Not sure how else to describe it...?
I'm curious to see how it goes for you?!
I have been eating low carb, but I'm not sure all carbs are my problem. Definitely some are (I don't eat potato chips or french fries or cookies or chocolate and now I don't eat bread) but others seem to not affect me. Rice, baked potatoes, desserts, don't seem to affect me. I have no problem limited their frequency and their amoutns. I like that I have a food plan that makes me look at specific foods that make me crazy instead of counting and measuring. Down 110, with 30 more to go!!

Oh dear I can't imagine giving up fruit, but it works great for some people. I hope you find yourself feeling better!
