Question of the Day - Week 11

When you go grocery shopping, what's the first thing you look for on the product?

Me?
When looking at a row of products, I first locate any that say organic, or all-natural, and I start with that one. I then look at the serving size and calories, then I work my way down the line and compare it to all the others. If I find one that compares well, I then check the ingredients against each other. Whoever has things I can't pronounce loses!

As we're getting closer to the end now.. I'd like to do a little progress report so maybe you guys can take the time to catch up!

So far, there are only TWO peeps who are in the drawing to win the prize, and that is :

Muddymamma and CMH (Higgly!)

Here's everyone else, with how many questions they answered.
Remember, at the end, you need 12 out of 12 to be entered! (so up to now is out of 10)

October : 7/10
Salina Lyn : 3/10
Melissa : 8/10
Leila : 1/10
Mackattack : 5/10
Fatty : 1/10
Perfectly Chic : 9/10
CJ : 1/10
Mandy K : 1/10
CactusFreak : 1/10
Low Carb Daily : 1/10
Builder Adam : 3/10
Jamie : 2/10
Rebecca : 1/10
Seth : 1/10

So if you wanna be in it, just run down the list in the side bar and answer them all up! :-) Good luck!

Question of the Week - Week 10

Wow, week 10 already! Unbelievable!

What is your latest achievement (health, exercise, or otherwise!) that made you proud? No matter how small!

Me?
Well, you all know I just ran 30 minutes straight! I am still quite proud of myself for that one!
I also put on (and worked out in) some exercise pants I bought at least a year ago, but they never fit.
Small things can make great big feelings :)

Question of the Day - Week 9

In honor of St. Patty's Day...

What are your top 3 favorite GREEN foods?

Me?
Well, I looove fruits and veggies, so I can't possibly pick a real favorite... but in the top would surely be :
seaweed, kiwi, and cucumbers

Question of the Day - Week 8!

Do you work out when you're sick?

Me?

In general, yes. I work out when I have a head cold, or when I have tonsillitis. I don't do cardio if I have anything that involves barfing, or respiratory problems. If I have trouble breathing, I try to take it easy.

Since Sunday (when this ickyness started, I managed to make it through 2 of my 3 workouts, I am satisfied with that. I am still quite sick, and undecided about doing my jog tonight. But, truth-be-told, I am a little excited to do it tonight because I got new sneakers!

But, we'll see. I can't even make it down the hall without rattling some lung butter around.

Question of the Day - Week 7!

What are your favorite healthier substitutions for not-as-healthy foods?

Me?
I like to use Laughing Cow cheese in lieu cream cheese on bagels/toast/sammiches
Tzaziki in place of a creamy dressing on salads.
Greek yogurt for sour cream.
PB2 for Peanut Butter.
Kombucha for soda.

Question of the Day - Week 6

This question is about eating out.

While eating healthy, how do you approach dining out?

Me?
I do eat out fairly often.  My rules are -
eat out LESS.  (I used to eat out maybe 3-4 times a week, I now eat out 1 or 2 times a week)
choose before.  I always find the menu online and pick out and log in my meal before I even get to the restaurant.
just water.  No more soda.
order small.  I choose side dishes/small plates/appetizers as my meal, to stay away from the over-portioned plates.

Question of the Day - Week 5!

Hey there! Sorry I missed posting this yesterday! Busy day!

Well, here we are....

How often do you weigh yourself?

Me?
As you all know, I weigh in every morning. This week, however, since being UP in weight (it went up to 231), I have decided NOT to weigh in until my official weigh in on Saturday at the gym.
I let the scale determine my mood a little too much. When that is going down, or even staying the same... it's not necessarily a bad thing. But when it goes UP... it can be sabotaging. So, I like to stay away :-)
For the record... it did read a drop in fat mass, not a gain. So I know it's all water weight. 6lbs up is frustrating, nonetheless. We'll see what Saturday brings!

Question of the Day - Week 4!

Tell me about the most absurd, ridiculous, or stupid diet or program you've tried to lose weight.

Me? I remember some diet I did in high school.. it was so specific. Like, one day you'd eat just tomatoes and steak for every meal.  The next day, you'd eat just chicken and bananas for every meal. Each day was different.  No, I didn't lose weight on it :) But I do recall the steak day being a very happy day.  :-) I love steak!

Question of the Day - Week 3!

Sorry for being a day late!

Here's the question for this week....

What are some things that you've always wanted to do, that your weight or fitness level have prevented you from doing?

For me, of course... its having a personal style. I have always been infatuated with clothes and fashion, but found it impossible, as an obese girl to really show it. I'd like to have the chance to do that.

Sad sad sad

Well, I got up this morn and decided to make some Vitamuffins.

I topped half with dark chocolate mini chips, and half with chopped walnuts.

I went off to training, took 1/2 dozen with me to share. Upon arriving at said training,  my eyes fell upon the saddest sight they ever did see.
THE SCOREBOARD.

After  working out, I took my hurt pride on back home. When I got there, I decided to tackle this guy -

Which I rather liked. It tasted exactly like carbonated apple cider vinegar. If your mouth can even imagine that. Now, I am ok with the pulpy floaties, however I did get something globular in one sip that felt like swallowing a baby jellyfish.
Not cool, Kombucha.

Question of the Week, Week 2 BL

What is your go-to food for a healthy breakfast?

For me?
It used to always be 2 eggs, 1 piece of toast, with veggies or salsa.  I ate that for breakfast every day, for probably... 5 or 6 years!  Now, my favorite thing is quick oats.  Because I can take them work, they keep me full for a LONG time, and I can change the flavors on a whim! :-)
This morning, I had spiced apples, cinnamon, and chia in it.

The Biggest Loser Gods hate me!  :-)

Yee-haw

Well, tonight is the first week's BL weigh in. Despite my trying, I was unable to lose any weight this weekend. I am sad that I won't start this competition out strong! I wanted to be a contender from the beginning, it will have to suffice to be the dark horse, instead :-)

Actually, I fear that last week's loss was a product  of my body's usual trickery.  A couple pounds lost due solely to change, but not having any sustaining power. I don't want this to keep happening.  And for now, I'll do my best to ignore it.  I will just keep on assuming that what I am doing is going to work.

Friday, January 22, 2010

Dang it!

Well, it seems I celebrated too soon! I am back firmly planted in the 230's again. All that excitement for nothing :-)  Oh well, it'll come eventually! (to stay!)

As for yesterday.. nothing exciting...

Sammy and mango for lunch -

More salmon, and some cheetahs for dinner -

Training was good. The day was fine.  Same ol' same ol'!

First weeks weigh in for BL is tomorrow.. I would have LOVED to been down a couple pounds.. start off the competition fiercely!
But now, I'm up .5lbs since last weeks weigh in! Figures!

Question of the Day - Week 1 !

Here it comes!

When you need a little boost, where do you get your motivation/inspiration/support from?

Tuesday, January 19, 2010

BIGGEST LOSER - ENTER TO WIN! :-)

A new Biggest Loser competition has begun at my gym!!
I am in it, to win it! And I want you to be in it, too!
The best part is.. you don't even have to lose weight :)

The competition runs for 12 weeks.   For me, that means - lose as much weight as possible.
For you, it's something entirely different!

Every WEDNESDAY, I'll post a food/weight loss/exercise question.  Anyone who answers ALL 12 questions, will be entered in a random drawing.

• If I WIN the gym competition, the winner of the random drawing will receive a hefty cash prize!

• If I do not win the gym competition, the winner will receive a less hefty, but equally as awesome prize of my choosing (trust me, I choose superbly)

EVERYONE is eligible, including Fatty!  Anonymous peeps—just be sure to leave your name in your comments.  If you don't leave your name, you will not be put in the drawing!

There is no deadline on answering the questions, if you wanna be weird, and go through and answer all of them at once at the end of 12 weeks.. go right ahead!  It won't be as fun, but it will still count :-)

Coco Loco

Yesterday's breakfast was delicious, and kind of pretty, so I saved you a picture :

It is just eggs & spinach, with an english muffin.

Last night was beading night, and I made this little number -

Sorry the pic is crappy, my kitchen lighting sucks! But, I was proud of my new wire wrapping skills, so, whatevs :-)

Last night I had a snack of pumpkin spice granola, blueberries, skim milk, and a drizzle of agave syrup. It was heavenly.

This morning's breakfast was home fries (I used canned potatoes, hehe!) and 2 eggs. With yolks, what a treat!!

So tonight, I got home from training and put on some eggs to cook. I have an Oster egg cooker, and its pretty amazing. It does poaching, hard boiled, and soft boiled eggs. SO handy. I love kitchen gadgets, I can't help it :-)

Then, I started in on dinner...

I chopped some zucchini.

I par-cooked, skinned, and sliced up some sweet taters.

I put on those taters to cook.

I added some onions, shrooms, and spices to the zucchini and cooked em up.
And handed Joel the filets to grill.

Then, we sat down to eat! Look at that plate! Doesn't it look huge and awesome? Its a TRICK, I say!! That is a small side plate. Sneaky, I say.

Look! Leftovers :-)

Finished off with a Vita Coco. This stuff is amazing. 100 calories for the whole drink, and more potassium than two bananas! And, delicious I tell you!

Well, there's the pics I promised! :-)

Anyone else watch the heartbreak that is Biggest Loser?! What's with all the sob stories! I think viewers at home will lose 10 lbs a week just in tears watching this season!

I love Bob

Another good work out last night. That Biggest Loser DVD is so killer. I am still sore from doing it 4 days ago, nevermind last night! Oi. My quads, they scream!

I will thrilled when I am capable of doing some segments all the way through. I'm good until the push-up/plank series. I have to drop to my knees after one or two, it's soooo hard! But I will be able to do it someday, and that will be a very cool day!

I have a super crush on super gay Bob.

(That right there is 43 years old. I better in that kind of shape at 43 years old! damn!)
