Question of the Day - Week 6

This question is about eating out.

While eating healthy, how do you approach dining out?

Me?
I do eat out fairly often.  My rules are -
eat out LESS.  (I used to eat out maybe 3-4 times a week, I now eat out 1 or 2 times a week)
choose before.  I always find the menu online and pick out and log in my meal before I even get to the restaurant.
just water.  No more soda.
order small.  I choose side dishes/small plates/appetizers as my meal, to stay away from the over-portioned plates.

I have yet to be able to to dine out healthy. I do try to drink only water while out but I will get a soda if I really want it (rarely). But I find most of the "healthy" options are still loaded with unhealthy items.

I find it hard to eat healthy when dining out. If I haven't eaten out in awhile I consider it a treat meal...if I'm eating out more than usual I try to keep it lighter by not eating a ton of starchy carbs and adding in more veggies.
PS-your doggie is adorable!

I had been getting lax in following my "rules" and have recently recommitted. The rules for dining out are the same as for eating in. No drinking with food, protein first and for eating out... DOGGIE BAG! A restaraunt meal is usually 3 full meals for me.MMMmmmmMMMMM the rack of lamb at the Outback...'nuff said ;-)

When I used to actually care what I was eating while out (like, before the wedding, before I got all lazy and fatass), I would look up points for meals on dottie's (sp) weight watcher points site...and pick what I wanted before I went.

However, eating out is a big problem for me. Because I always want something delicious, and filling. I am apt to eat healthier at home, when i don't have access to crap foods.

Why can't we have one of those all you can eat salad & soup places around here?

I just make low carb choices as with any situation. I wish restaurants would all publish their nutritional content though. Sometimes it is best guess.
