Product Review : FRS

FRS Healthy Energy is a low calorie diet supplement for energy.  The version I tried is a powder, but it also comes in chewable tablets and liquid form.

It's claim to fame is that it contains Quercetin. (No, I haven't heard of it either.)  It is a compound found in the bark and rind of some fruits and veggies... like the outer skins of onions (you know, the part we don't eat!) It has antioxidants, as well as anti-inflammatory properties. FRS claims that the Quercetin and vitamins help your body create it's own additional energy instead of using caffeine and sugar. I'm no scientist, so I cannot prove or disprove their theory and, in their defense, they have a studies on their site. To me, it's most likely an excellent placebo. I don't feel like there is anything unhealthy about this product though. Except perhaps the insane orange dye they use. It stained everything it touched! I betcha my intestines are flaming orange! (cool!)

So,  FRS wants you to take this 3 times a day, everyday. Personally, I don't have a problem with low energy, so I don't see a need for that.  They recommend you also take it 30-60 minutes prior to a work out.  And that is what I did.

Just like Crystal Lite, you simply mix it with 8-10 ounces of water and chug it down.  Also like Crystal Lite, I needed to really dilute it for my own taste. So I ended up having it in about 24 ounces of water, and it was still strong.  It is heavily flavored, and tastes like Metamucil.  Faux-orangey, gritty, kind of malty flavor.  Not horrible, but not exactly tasty.

What you really want to know is, was I all hopped up like Jessie Spano on caffeine pills? Hmm, no.
Like I said, it is hard for me to review an energy supplement because I am never really lacking energy.  I did not feel a boost or a surge in my endurance. I did have a great workout and never tired. Cannot say if the FRS helped with that or not.

Zevon is a little skeptical

All in all?
I would not buy this product myself, but I would recommend it to others who feel they need a boost for their workouts, even if it is just a placebo, placebos work! I am a bit more trusting of products that use just vitamins for energy rather than too much caffeine, or sugar.

Also, I am required to say that the two packets I consumed were given to me by Bob. They were not sent from FRS, and I was not compensated for this review.

I have the liquid version of this that you mix with water. It doesn't taste gritty. It also doesn't give me any more energy than usual! Good review. :]
