Bacon, and Birthday Goals

For Fatty's birthday, we decorated his cubicle. We tried to stick to a bacon theme, and one coworker took it to a whole other level...

Meet : Bryan's Birthday Bacon Buddy!

Isn't he cute?!

Don't worry! He's not edible... doesn't mean Fatty won't try to take a bite!

Sooooooooo, back to relevant information!

I got back on the treadmill last night, for my first run in a couple weeks. My knee bands haven't come yet, but I couldn't wait any longer!  I did 2 miles, which I am happy enough about.  But I was really feeling it, side cramps and everything! If the weather warms up by Friday, I think I'll do 10 miles on the bike, then 2 or 3 miles running (indoor).

I'm not tracking my food this week.  I typically log every morsel that touches my lips. But I feel like I need a break from the meticulous record keeping. I'll get back to it, it just seems overwhelming sometimes. I'll still be eating the same way, though!

After Fatty's Bday, I was thinking about my Bday!  (It's not until October, don't worry, you still have time to shop! :-) ) I really really would like to lose a substantial chunk of weight before then. A birthday is like a personal New Years. A time to review the last year of your life, and decide how you'd like to spend the next one! I'd like to look back at my 28th year as a year of huge strides of progress, and head into my 29th year feeling like I'm in the homestretch.
I feel foolish making these kinds of hopes and goals, when it truly feels like I have no say over how quickly my body releases fat (if it does at all)
But... if helps me keep my solid motivation, then....I see no harm in it.
If I could lose 20-30lbs by my birthday (5 months), I would be ecstatic!  A lot of my friends are ones that I only see once a year, on my Bday. And how nice it would be to show them a new me!

Now the question is.... how can I make this happen!?

A few more gifts...

My Mom made me this amazing wreath, out of fresh berries from my Aunt's yard. It is these simple, colorful things that I really love.

I'm just sad that its fresh, so it won't last too long. I love it!

My Auntie made me this gorgeous autumn table runner, and found matching dishes! How beautiful is that??

:-)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR TRACY,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUUUU!!!!!

Happy Bday October :-) I hope you have a wonderful day, and a fabulous weekend!
(I can't link to this picture directly, 'cause somebody owns it! But I found it especially for you, so, LOOK!

I GOT FOOTIE PAJAMAS FOR MY BIRTHDAY

And lots of other amazing stuff! I made out like a bandit. Seriously. Fatty got me something I've wanted forever! You'll hear about that in a post of its own though, since its food related :-)

But in the meantime.. here's a few more pictures from my night...

Mom made me exactly what I asked for.. Beef Stew with Dumplings!

Everyone was going for seconds and thirds.. and I really wanted to! But man, I was STUFFED to the brim nearly immediately!

She also made me a sugar-free pumpkin pie, just like I requested :-)

(look at Corg smiling in the background!)

A PILE o presents, ALL FOR ME!
And my beautiful smiling Mom :-)

A Corg's tookus.

Adam, claiming to be doing an impression of me. I think its really accurate! :-)

And a bonus pic, this is my dinner from last night.
Assorted fruit, strawberry chobani, lite granola.

I'm back!! Pic heavy, I warn you!

I had an absolutely wonderful weekend away :-) Joel whisked me away to the white mountains (NH) where we stayed at a gorgeous hotel, with an UNBELIEVABLE restaurant. We ate, we lounged, we watched movies, we shopped in the rain, we hiked to a waterfall, we ate some more. I'd love to get into details. But I am pooped! I will give you bullet points and pictures. Not necessarily in order :-)

• Braised veal cheeks and butter chive spaetzel. (seriously. best thing i've ever eaten)
• Hot espresso, crackling fire, downpour rain outside.
• Icy cold spray from a raging waterfall on the face. Stepping in bear poo.
• TV over a jacuzzi tub, filled with homemade bath salts
• Asparagus bisque, sweet potato gnocchi, shrimp ceviche, roasted beet & goat cheese salad.
• Foliage as if the forests were on fire, or made entirely of gold.
• New set of amazing knives as a b-day gift! Can't wait to cook with these :-)
• Hidden away pumpkin farm with a lovable yet eerie farmer.

Pumpkins, on the honor system. Healthiest looking pumpkins I've ever seen for sale!
Farmer man asked me how I picked the one I was holding. I liked the shape of it's stem, I said. "You're a graphic designer, a good one." He said. I told him he was right. He just kinda nodded and walked away. I kinda love that guy.

We think Yoda owns this gas station.

The Basin. A natural formation, off the side of the highway. Yes, even the rest stops hold treasures in this magical land.

Our destination! The Wentworth.

I can't tell you how huge this actually was, well I can, technically. I think I read that it is 108 feet. But, seriously. It is huge. And the power of the flowing water applies the strongest, wettest wind directly to your face.

(crab cake on pretzel bread. Yes, it was as good as it looks!)

Sorry I didn't get more food pictures. The food at the Wentworth was as gorgeous as it was delicious. But, it was quite a fancy place (like, I wore a dress, and heels, and even lipstick!) and so I just felt very uncouth pulling out my camera and snapping pictures. But I assure it, it was incredible. :-)

So thats that. I'm back (no happily) but I had a wonderful birthday. Thank you all for your bday wishes!!!

Here's to another good year!

You say its yo birthday!

My office was all decorated for my Bday today! I took proper pictures, but this one is from Matt's iPhone :-)

There are balloons, posters, and streamers EVERYWHERE! I got sugarfree candies! And bouncy balls! (that is what I am so excited about in the picture), I got an itunes gift card, and a gift card for my favorite sushi place!
I got an iced coffee from Dunks, and a Diet Coke from Fatty! :-)

Good day, and its not even my Bday yet!

(see why I love my birthday so much? I get lots of love!!)
